May 1, 2014
FREE event on the conflict Syria — what are the issues, who’s involved, why is it happening, what is the international response, and what are the consequences of intervening?
The 20 minute overview is followed by a 40 minute Q&A and discussion.  Continue the conversation with us informally across the street at The Field, after the event.
The overview will be given by Denis Sullivan, the Director of the Boston Consortium for Arab Region Studies, who is also a Professor and Co-Director, Middle East Center for Peace, Culture & Development at Northeastern University.
This is the first session in series of events called the Civic Series.  Each one is intended to breakdown and provide background information on complex global and national issues.  It’s non-technical, non-academic and non-partisan.  Future sessions will be on topics like Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Palestine, jobs in America, and others.
